Qualifying Conditions In Hawaii For 329 Medical Marijuana Card

Patients in Hawaii diagnosed with one of the following severe, debilitating, or life-threatening medical conditions, are afforded legal protection under the Hawaii Medical Marijuana law, as per Senate Bill 862:

  • Cancer

  • Glaucoma

  • HIV/AIDS (Positive Status)

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis (added effective June 29, 2017 as per Act 041, SHL 2017)

  • Epilepsy (added effective June 29, 2017 as per Act 041, SHL 2017)

  • Crohn’s Disease

  • Lupus (added effective June 29, 2017 as per Act 041, SHL 2017)

  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) (added effective December 19, 2017 as per the petition process)

  • A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition or its treatment that produces one or more of the following:

    • Cachexia or wasting syndrome;

    • Severe pain;

    • Severe nausea;

    • Seizures, including those characteristic of epilepsy; or

    • Severe and persistent muscle spasms, including those characteristic of multiple sclerosis or Crohn’s disease; or

    • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) (added effective June 29, 2017 as per Act 041, SHL 2017)

    • Multiple Sclerosis (MS) (added effective June 29, 2017 as per Act 041, SHL 2017)


Hawaii Medical Marijuana Program

  1. You must have a valid ID card (Driver’s License, State ID or Passport).

  2. Create a account on the state website.

  3. If you have them, bring your medical records with you to your marijuana evaluation appointment.

  4. Be diagnosed with a Qualifying Condition during your doctor appoiontment.

  5. A registration certificate will be mailed to you, known as a medical marijuana identification card, from the Hawaii Department of Health Medical Cannabis Registry Program.
